EXHIBITION
FAUNE
SNAP! CITY UNSEEN x FAUNE
OPENING: January 27, 2024. 6PM
In collaboration with world-renowned digital artists Adrien Mondot and Claire Bardainne, Snap!’s CITY UNSEEN℠ presents the U.S. premiere of FAUNE, a series of 10 large format posters installed throughout the city, revealed in 3D augmented reality. The first outdoor exhibit is set to open on January 27, 2024 in the downtown area, with two other locations to open later in February.
Since 2011, Mondot and Bardainne have been creating handcrafted, responsive digital art that blends the real and virtual worlds. Their art is brought to life through the assistance of a smart device, allowing viewers embark on an urban art safari with imaginary animals, discovering fantastical wildlife hiding in their city walls. Many of their works feature a blob-like creature silently roaming desolate but distinctly human settings. Despite its clear presence within the photography itself, there is still a sense of loneliness and longing to be truly immersed in the human world. The result is a poetic visual that speaks to the often dissonant coalescence of reality and virtuality present in an era of rapid technological advancement.
“Adrien M. and Claire B. are universally renowned art and technology prodigies,” said Patrick Kahn, founder and executive director of Snap! Orlando. “We’ve been in communication for the past four years, and I am thrilled that Snap! Orlando will be bringing FAUNE, an innovative poetic experience, to the United States for the first time.”
The exhibit will be located in three public areas of Orlando, highlighting the Central Business District. The installations are walkable, suitable for all audiences, and accessible day and night. In conjunction with Snap! Orlando’s existing CITY UNSEEN℠ project, FAUNE will be on view for one year in Downtown Orlando, and for three months in Creative Village and Lake Nona.
