Snap! Orlando presents ‘CITY UNSEEN℠,’ an ongoing public art project with in gallery experiences, exhibitions and permanent installations across Orlando. Experiences include murals coming to life, a projection mapping finding permanence into the virtual world, and a teleport bringing the viewer into a 360 degree visit of the artist’s Los Angeles studio. City Unseen℠ is designed to push the artistic boundaries of this new medium to connect Orlando to a global conversation about how to use emerging technology to create higher forms of art and educational experiences.
‘We are living in a time when fixed notions have been lost and new possibilities are on the horizon. My work attempts to trap the mutable state of things where paradigms shift, boundaries erode and particles collide. My work is also fusion of my background and the unique cities in which I have lived. San Francisco’s earthquakes, Miami’s hurricanes, New Orleans’ weakened levees, Venice’s rising lagoon and New York during 9/11, have left indelible impressions on me of the vulnerability and resiliency of life in the big city. ’ ~ Felice Grodin [Miami multi-disciplinary artist]. Felice holds a Master of Architecture with Distinction from Harvard University School of Design, Cambridge, MA. She created the permanent AR installation at the Perez Art Museum in Miami, in 2017..

Depeña explores the combination of traditional mediums such as drawing and painting, with contemporary uses of technology in artwork, like the use of light projection and video, or audience interactivity. “What holds my attention is the more elusive moment of “fusion” when developing my work and installations. It is the instance where different forms of creative thought, production and exhibition are indistinguishable from one another, that I find rewarding. I am constantly in search of the harmonic moment in my work when the various disciplines I pursue come together seamlessly.” Ivan Toth Depeña has a Master’s in Architecture from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design.
Gerstein began in the mainstream film industry in Los Angeles, as a film editor on feature films and television series from major Hollywood studios and television networks. He later branched out to academia, where he has written and directed narrative and experimental films that have exhibited in over thirty international film festivals. His current work has moved beyond the convention of film as an image on a screen to the intersection of motion picture, the still frame, and the third dimension in a gallery setting. His current work explores emotional attachments and fissures within contemporary family life, and their tenuous connection to a collective memory of trauma across generations.
