Snap! Downtown present works by international artists Formento & Formento, Reine Paradis, Dina Litovsky. Additionally, the exhibition revisited works by legendary artist Cheyco Leidmann, and featured photographs by Hendrik Kerstens, Erwin Olaf, and Daniele Buetti. REINE PARADIS. Los Angeles-based, French artist Reine Paradis takes us on an introspective journey across a chromatic world, blurring the lines between reality and the imaginary. Paradis' works have been exhibited at Snap! since 2016.

HENDRIK KERSTENS. Hendrik Kerstens is a Dutch photographer and visual artist known for his portraits of his daughter Paula, a number of which are clearly reminiscent of Johannes Vermeer. The austerity of the photograph, its clarity, the serene expression on the young girl’s face, and not least, the characteristic “Dutch” light, all combine to create this impression. Conceptually, Kerstens’ photographs play with the dialog between the mediums of painting and photography, with seriality, and time. His photographs have been collected by museums around the world and have inspired taste-makers as diverse as Elton John and Alexander McQueen.

DINA LITOVSKY. Litovsky’s work examines social performances and group interactions in both public and private spaces. Dina was born in Ukraine and moved to New York in 1991. She has won various awards, including NPPA Best of Photojournalism, the PDN Photo Annual and the International Photography Awards. Her work has been published in Time, The New York Times, The New Yorker, New York Magazine, Stern, Newsweek Japan, Wired, and many others. She has been exhibited at Snap! since 2010.

VAN DE CAMP & HEESTERBEEK. Patricia Van de Camp​ studied graphic Art and photography in Amsterdam and Design in Denmark. Marc Heesterbeek​ studied architecture and urban planning in Eindhoven, Netherlands and space architecture in Houston. In 2018 they became an art duo, combining their skills to create unique photographic works, exploring a new notion of classic beauty and reality.

FORMENTO + FORMENTO. Fashion stylist and photographer couple Formento+formento return with their newest works. Bj and Richeille Formento travel around the world, creating highly inspirational visual series. Weaving cinematic worlds drenched in sensuality, Formento+formento produces genre-bending photography that is as conceptually rich as it is precisely crafted.

ERWIN OLAF. From the The Rijksmuseum exhibit in 2016 entitled “Catwalk” and designed by the renowned Dutch photographer Erwin Olaf, the museum showed its vast fashion collection for the first time, sprawled across six of the museum’s galleries, gathers items worn by the Dutch from 1625 to 1960. The journey begins with garments that were produced during the Dutch Golden Age and culminates with examples of 20th century French haute couture by the likes of Christian Dior and Yves Saint Laurent.

MEL BAGSHAW. An installation of 12 photographs that looks at the roles, dress, and stages of women that have been discussed, celebrated, desired and fetishized by society. The photographs form a cohesive narrative and a metaphorical journey of development, growth, female identity and empowerment. Courtesy of Amstel Gallery.

ADAM SELMAN. Selman brings the legendary work of Cheyco Leidmann to life again in his Fall/Winter '18 show and draws inspiration for his graphic and extraordinarily bright collection from Leidmann’s books, “Banana Split” and “Foxy Lady." Adam Selman studied Fashion Design at Pratt Institute in New York, and after his 2004 graduation, began freelancing in design and pattern making. He has created custom looks and world tours for the likes of Michael Jackson, Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, RuPaul, Mick Jagger and Mary J. Blige. Selman was also a freelance pattern maker, prop maker, and the art director for Amy Sedaris’s craft book “Simple Times,” and created tours for The Scissor Sisters, Sufjan Stevens and Rihanna. He has also continued to design tours and create custom pieces for Rihanna, Beyoncé, Katy Perry, and Lorde and many others while maintaining his label as well as pursuing successful collaborations.
