Richard Tuschman began experimenting with digital imaging in the early 1990’s, developing a style that synthesized his interests in photography, painting and assemblage. “Hopper Meditations” is a personal photographic response to the work of the American painter, Edward Hopper. Placing one or two figures in humble, intimate settings, he creates quiet scenes that are psychologically compelling with open-ended narratives. Tuschman constructs dollhouse-sized sets and photographs their interiors, then photographs his human models in a variety of poses, lights, and positions, and digitally places them in the setting. His work has been exhibited and published internationally and recognized by Photo District News, Lens Culture, American Photography, Prix de la Photographie Paris, and the International Photography Awards.
